April seemed like it would never end, maybe because of all the rain. Or maybe it was all those parties: birthdays, then anniversaries, then baby showers. But guess what? May is finally here, and guess what else? MOTHER’S DAY! Did it sneak up on you like a ninja looking for its next adventure? Don’t worry! Here are two gift ideas that you can make RIGHT AT HOME with stuff you probably already have.
First, let’s talk about making a card. You gotta have a card for Mom, right? It’s like the kickoff to the holiday! Your little one can draw or write a nice message inside – easy peasy!
Gather Card Materials:
- White Paper
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Sharpie/Marker
Here’s what you do:
- Fold the white paper into a card.
- Paint your kiddo’s palms.
- Press their hands onto the paper, making sure their thumbs and pointer fingers touch to make a heart shape.
- Let the paint dry.
- Add a message like “We Love You!”
Now that you’ve got the hang of making a handmade card, let’s move on to the big gift.
Hope you’re hungry for pickles (or anything else that comes in a jar)!
Gather Gift Materials:
- Jar (Empty, of course!)
- Elmers Glue
- Tissue Paper
Here’s what you do:
- Cut the tissue paper into hearts. (Stacking a bunch of sheets together will make it faster!)
- Mix 1 part water with 1 part Elmers Glue.
- Use a paintbrush to spread the glue mixture onto the jar in sections.
- Stick the tissue paper hearts onto the glue.
- Keep repeating steps 3 and 4 until the whole jar is covered.
- Let it dry.
- Add a candle or some flowers to your decorated jar, and ta-da!
